Our Differentiation
There's no shortage of websites and travel sources out there providing "free" information out there. Though if something is 'free' how does it stay operational? Any successful publication takes a small team to create content, verify sources, and ensure this information stays up to date. Any team member of course needs to be compensated for their time and efforts in order to make a living. This is why most "free" websites and travel services rely on paid advertisements and affiliate marketing to operate. However, this creates a biased incentive to promote people and businesses that are most profitable for those organizations, rather than to provide the most authentic and honest content.

Expats & Locals has experienced explosive growth by a simple commitment. Source reliable information from locals and expats and verify it by subjecting it to peer review. This is done via Facebook Group which became so popular this website was created to answer many of the Frequently Asked Questions. To stay true to our Mission & Vision, we operate not at profit and all content is made available completely free without advertisements to stay true to providing unbiased information. Expats and Locals is able to operate by the generous support from our Sponsors which are made public on our page. All people and businesses endorsed are verified to operate legally and with all necessary licenses and registrations as necessary per National Thai Law.

We've worked hard, so we don't mind bragging a little. After nearly a decade of providing our travel services in Thailand we have been approached by hundreds, if not thousands, of people and businesses wanting to pay to advertise and partner with us. However, as we operate as not for profit there is no incentive to accept these offers. Having Thailand's largest active community of expats and locals the people and businesses of value are brought to us, as a community we then subject these people and businesses for review. This process filters out the bad actors and what is left is only the top quality products and services Thailand has to offer.

Expats & Locals aim is to be more than another website providing a "Top 10 List of Things to Do & See," we of course provide this, but we work to achieve so much more. We know when traveling somewhere new the unknowns act as hurdles in front of the endless doors of possibilities that you likely have a lot of questions about, which a website (an unknown in itself) simply cannot answer. That is why we source our information from the local community. Effectively, we find and verify the local people and businesses you can trust... so you don't have to.
